One Day Without Shoes 2011

It's that time again!
April 5th was One Day Without Shoes! I was excited that I actually had plans to get out of the house for it this year, since last year I basically just stayed home and took pictures in my back yard. I got a better idea of how hard it is to not have shoes this year. I spent my day with Abbie, Tyler, and Lindsey and we had a great time! It was also Tyler's birthday too. Tyler and I picked up Abbie then we headed to Cape. We picked up Tyler's new glasses and ate at Olive Garden. We actually ended up putting our shoes on for Olive Garden, since its kind of a fancy restaurant and we weren't sure if they'd let us eat there if we were barefoot. But after that our shoes were off all day (well except for when we went to Goodwill. Abbie said it might not be safe for us to go barefoot in there. lol).
We did other fun things, like go to walmart for cake mix for cake mix cookies (we got stared at and even pointed at at wal-mart for being shoe-less) and we went to the mall and goodwill to buy me a jacket because it was cold out and I didn't bring one. Then we met Lindsey at Starbucks and went to downtown cape where a couple people talked to us about our bare feet. The first was a girl walking her dog who knew about TOMS and ODWS, the second was a woman who came out of a restaurant with her husband and came over and asked us why we were barefoot. She was super nice and told us we were doing something great after we explained it to her. Then we did other fun things like go to the Trail of Tears park and then a park that was in cape closer to the school and ended our night eating cake mix cookies and watching madea for tylers bday. It was a great day!
I really have more of an understanding on what it feels like to go without shoes. We walked on quite a few different terrains during the day. From grass to squishy dirt to gravel to pavement to woodchips that were on the playground under one of the play things. And let me tell you, its hard without shoes. My feet were so achey at the end of the day and I really don't know how people go without shoes all the time. I feel even more compassion for them now than I did before. I'm glad I did ODWS and spent it with my friends. I hope I have as good a barefoot day next year as I did this year :)

Here's some pictures from our day!
